Ahoy There, Pilgrims
Owen has spent the past month in preschool studying the Pilgrims, the Mayflower, turkeys and all things Thanksgiving. Tonight, he reenacted for me the pilgrims journey and that they were "Going to my own church!"
Last Thursday during school, the children celebrated the holiday with a feast, complete with costumes they helped construct. When I walked into the room, I saw 10 darling little "pilgrims" feasting on chicken legs and other potluck contributions.
Upon my entrance, Owen jumped up in his chair and exclaimed "Arrgghh!!! I'm a pirate!" Oh, really. He gave every parent who followed me into the room the same welcome.
He is quite fond of his hat and wears it frequently. I caught him pulling the same face a few days ago. Nothing says "Happy Thanksgiving" quite like a pirate.

Bowling, Birthday, Blitz
We celebrated my mom's birthday at Fat Cat's. Owen was less than precise and at one point launched a ball down another couple's lane. I lunged for the ball, but ended up doing the splits while sliding down the lane. I did some serious damage to my 34 week pregnant body. Woe is me.
Sam was a little perturbed Owen blew out the candles before they all could.

Halloween Night
Owen was extremely excited about the prospect of trick-or-treating. It was all running and fun for about 30 minutes. Then his excitement waned.
We had several conversations about the most important thing he say (besides "trick-or-treat" of course) is "thank you". By the end of the night, he had grown extremely frustrated with people not saying "you're welcome". The last two houses he gave the candy back to the people and said "You're not saying 'You're Welcome'." He even sat down and cried at the last one.
Don't worry, the night wasn't ruined - I offered him the chance to eat some of his candy and play at his cousins house and he rebounded quickly.

Scarecrow Festival
Thanksgiving Point has so many wonderful Halloween activities, this year we opted for the Scarecrow Festival. We were some of the first people through the gate, which paid off because Sam and Owen had most of the inflatable bounce houses to themselves.
The kiddos also had their faces painted - I'm glad Owen saw the baseball last minute, he wanted a ladybug at first. I'm also glad I was able to talk him out of the unicorn, like his cousins were getting.
