The Friend

A friend of a friend posted this on her blog and I thought: "Hey, that's me!"

Yes, I am the one with the hot bangs sitting on the teachers lap. I went to school with the boy in red and the boy in bed. A very important person is missing - the maid of honor at my wedding is on the back cover. She was playing with a stuffed dog at the foot of the bed. Come to think of it, she had some pretty awesome bangs too. Love 1989.

Camelback in Pictures

Be forewarned: this post has a ridiculous amount of pictures.

We had a marvelous time last week in Phoenix and I was reminded it marked the two-year anniversary of my first blog post. The hotel where we stay was enough to inspire me to start documenting our little family's experiences. My kind of place.

This picture perfectly documents our frustration renting from FOX rent-a-car. Don't even get me started . . . the long wait time, lame cars that only started half the time, a fee because we returned the car an hour early, complete morons running the show, etc., etc., etc. Bless Sydney for playing tag with the kids in the parking lot to keep them entertained.

Not exactly my idea to post a close-up of myself (my brother described this look as "disheveled"), but I needed a pic of the Camelback mountain and beautiful backdrop.

It is a wonder that none of the children fell into a cactus with all the "bouldering" they did while at the hotel.

Owen looking like a stud Easter morning outside of church.

And there we are. If you ever feel embarrassed about your Easter attire, always remember me. I will be 40 with six kids and my mom will still be buying matching Easter outfits for us all.

Beautiful Sydney who is cool enough to pull this exotic dress off. Ah, the handsome couple.

Absolutely my favorite picture of Emily. She got her golf club stuck up her dress and couldn't get it out. She walked around showing off her juicy leg for about 10 minutes, all the while playing golf.

If you look closely you can see Emily's tongue. She was sooooo determined to pick this up.

Owen called this his "hamburger" or "really big cookie".

Owen, quite pleased with his loot after an Easter egg hunt my mom put together on the lawn of the hotel, quietly disappeared into a bush for about 10 minutes.

Owen trying his best to rescue Sydney.

A family of about four people sat and watched Owen for at least 15 minutes strait remarking that this was the most entertaining thing they did their entire vacation; watching him karate chop and yell at the jumping water.

Have I mentioned how hard it is to be back? Owen cried when we drove to the airport and then when we landed in SLC, tears appeared again. "It's cold here. Go back to Phoenix. I don't want to go home." Ditto.

Rapping Flight Attendant

We had the pleasure of having this guy as our flight attendant today:

Seriously, the best flight attendant ever. I think his coworker was in love too. She was giddy when we got on the plane and told us about him, giddy while he rapped, and then giddy when we got off and she told us to check him out on YouTube. He was pretty great; I actually paid attention to the safety instructions.

Almost 30

Joey's birthday (it looks like it is also Owen's birthday too!) would not be complete with triple chocolate mousse cakes . . .

. . . and a pinata!

Two in a Row

Three of my nieces have birthdays within 10 days of each other; two of which belong to the same family. That means, joint birthday parties at Jungle Jim's.

I am trying my hardest to be a cool mom. Somehow I spent most of my time there with these two. In case you can't tell, I'm doing everything in my power not to chuck.

I am not quite sure how I got my body into one of these cars, but once again, I'm trying to be a good mom.
There was a moment when Owen's feet weren't touching the ground and I thought he was going to be sucked right out of the ride.

I could bite right into her chubby arms.

And there they are . . . more cakes. More frosting. All girl.
